William Quimby "Bill" Brown, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Lawton, Oklahoma on Monday, November 20, 2023.  Bill was born October 6, 1941 in Billings, Montana and was joyfully adopted by William "Buck" Brown and Mildred Brown.  He grew up on a farm northwest of Gage, Oklahoma and graduated from Gage High School, followed by one year of military service.  He went on to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.  While attending college, he met his wife Melba Joan Bailey.  Bill and Joan were married on July 18, 1964 and established their home in Lawton, Oklahoma.  Bill spent 31 years serving at Reynolds Army Hospital in the Chemistry Department, followed by 10 years at Comanche County Memorial Hospital, before retiring to pursue his true passion as a leather craftsman.

Bill's infinite curiosity, boundless energy and servant leader mentality permeated his life journey.  He was raised in the Methodist Church, accepting Christ at the young age of 12.  Bill also spent his youth achieving the designation of Eagle Scout.  He served as a scout master for 15 years in adulthood, earning the Silver Beaver award for a lifetime of service in scouting.  Never one for idle hands, Bill had numerous hobbies spanning auto restoration, carpentry, cooking, gardening, home improvement, hunting and leather crafts.  He believed any job worth doing was worth doing well, and he relished passing his wealth of knowledge on to the next generation.  Bill shared his time and talent in both the craft and faith communities, serving as President of the Lawton Craft Guild and as a Trustee at Lawton Heights United Methodist Church.

A loving husband and father, Bill is survived by his wife of 59 years Joan, daughters Tina Marie Brown and Paula Bachman, son-in-law Gregory Bachman, and grandchildren Kayla Coffey, Kate Bachman, Luke Bachman and numerous cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lawton Heights United Methodist Church.
