Wayne Eugene Parks was born on October 16, 1942, to Floyd and Opal Parks in Lawton, Oklahoma. Wayne graduated from Lawton High School in 1960 and then from the University of Central Oklahoma with a degree in Business Administration in 1966. After graduation, he proudly served his country as a member of the US Army Reserve.
Wayne lived a life filled with a tremendous, yet quiet passion. This passion showed in his quest for perfection in his job as a Claims Manager in the legal department of Haliburton from 1979 until his retirement in 2010. Wayne beamed with pride and excitement when discussing his previous case wins and the mental engagement it took to achieve them. Even with all his legal victories, he always felt his greatest achievement and victory was marrying Johnna Gordon Parks, on February 14, 1975, and raising their blended family together. His family was his greatest love and source of pride. He beamed the brightest when one of his grandchildren or great-grandchildren called him Buddy. His love also poured out for Koda, his Pomeranian, who was never far from his side, OU, his '54 Chevy truck, crossword puzzles, and lunch with his close friends were also dear to his heart.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Johnna Gordon Parks, his sons: Floyd Eugene "Gene" Parks (Alyssa), Todd Wyatt (Liz), Mitchell Wyatt (Perri Ann), his daughter: Shana Kozeny (Larry), his grandchildren: Allison Anderson (Clay), Brady Wyatt (Becca), Brooke Rooney (Taylor), Taylor Watson (Evan), Wyatt Horton (Katy), Haley Parks, Lunden Simpson (Montana), Keera Parks, Landen Sennett, and Kayleigh Sennett, and his great-grandchildren: Milo Wyatt, Lily Wyatt, Allie Kate Anderson, Quinn Rooney, Clayre Anderson, Mack Watson, Slayton Simpson, Hayes Horton, Saige Simpson, Ramsey Watson, and another Simpson on the way. Wayne is also survived by his sister-in-law, Ann Gordon; his niece, Krista Gordon Eschler (Dan Ray); and his great nephew and niece, Jake and Emma Eschler.
The family sincerely appreciates the love and support of so many close friends. We would especially like to thank the kindness and great care provided by his Home Health Nurse of 6 years, Paige Brown; his Hospice Nurse, Robbi Matthews; his family doctor, Dr. Brent Smith; his niece and trusted wound care specialist, Dr. Krista Gordon; his pastor, Chad Fetzer, who provided comfort with countless prayers and words of encouragement; and his longtime support provider and friend, Janice Smith.
Our lives were greatly enriched by Wayne's presence. His departure leaves an unfillable void in our lives, yet we find comfort in the memories and everlasting love we shared.
