Obituary

Graveside services for Wandell Dale Bilberry, 79, will be held Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Fort Sill National Cemetery, with Chaplain Julius Williams officiating.

Wandell Dale Bilberry was born on August 28, 1946, in Brawley, California, to Eddie Joe and Ruby Jean (Brown) Bilberry. He graduated from Brawley High School and soon after chose to serve his country, joining the United States Army in 1963.

While in high school, Wandell met the woman who would become the mother of his two children. The couple married on October 29, 1968, in Carson City, Nevada. He deeply cherished being a father. Whether taking his children fishing or inviting them to help rebuild an old Mustang Fastback, he treasured every moment spent with them-and later, with his grandchildren.

Wandell shared his love of food and nature with his family through outdoor cooking and tending his annual garden. One of his favorite places to visit was Colorado, where his parents spent their final years. He especially loved fishing there, surrounded by the peace and beauty of the mountains.

Wandell was a hardworking and high-spirited man. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he worked as a ranch hand on one of Oklahoma's largest ranches, the Lawayne Jones Ranch. He also enjoyed cutting wood to earn extra income, a task he loved and continued doing throughout his life. His wit and jovial nature brought warmth and laughter to those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings: Jean, Delores, Eddie Jo Jr., Dewayne, and his twin sister, Linda.

Wandell is survived by his children, Loretta Paige and Tim Bilberry; his grandchildren, Sierra Bilberry, Tiera Paige, Shaina Paige, Lyric Rankines, Sidnee Rankines, and Bishop Rankines; and his great-grandchildren, Westyn Paige and Ezekiel Muños.

The family extends a special thank you to everyone involved in his care at Complete Home Health and Hospice and the Lawton VA Center.
