Funeral service for Wanda Darlene Timken will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015 in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles A. Leggett officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Wanda Darlene Timken, age 83, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015 in Lawton. She was born June 21, 1932 in Fletcher, Oklahoma, to Willie C. and Veola (Breedlove) Lawson. She married SFC (Retired) Howard W. Timken on June 1, 1957 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He preceded her in death on August 17, 1998. She was a homemaker and loving wife and mother. Together she and her husband lived in Lawton most of their lives along with their six children. While her husband served several overseas tours she stayed home with the children. Darlene endured hardship watching her husband and two sons served their country during the Vietnam War. As her parents grew older she became a caregiver in their final years, taking care of them in their home. She may best be remembered as a woman who stood her ground and was vigilant about protecting her family. If there was a character which best describes Darlene it would be that she was the "John Wayne" of women, Mother and wife. She is survived by her two sons and daughters in law, Walker Dale and Maryanna Ivey, San Angelo, Texas and William and Maryann Ivey, Ponder, Texas; three daughters and two sons in law, Mary and Pascual Nuncio, Geronimo, Sandy Marion, Lawton and Laura and Ted Jacobs, Geronimo; 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Howard Clay, a daughter, Wanda Joy, her parents, two grandchildren, Gina and Eric, a great granddaughter, Ashlynn, three brothers and a sister.
