Graveside service for Virginia Thomas, 88, Lawton will be at 3:00 PM Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the Laws Chapel Cemetery in Atlanta, Texas with Rev. Charles D. Echols officiating. Mrs. Thomas died Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in Lawton. Arrangements are under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. Virginia Thomas was born in Atlanta, TX to Alvin and Birdie Mae (Burson) Waters on June 8, 1926 and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 28, 2015 at the McMahon Tomlinson Nursing Home in Lawton, OK at the age of 88. She grew up on a farm outside of Atlanta where she attended school and graduated from Atlanta High School. Shortly thereafter, she married Charles N. Echols and the two of them had a daughter, Charlotte and a son, Charles. During those years, they lived in Atlanta, TX, San Diego, California, and Oklahoma City, Ok. In 1949, she and her children moved to Houston, TX where she met J C Thomas. On February 5, 1951 she married J C. Their marriage was blessed with one daughter, Mickey Lynn. For most of her life, she dedicated herself to being a wife, mother, and a helper to those in need. In addition to her work in the home and in her community and church, Virginia also worked outside of the home at places like Foley's Department Store, Sunnyland Furniture, and Senco Tools. During the past 8 years, she has lived in assisted living facilities and nursing homes in Houston, TX and Lawton, OK where she has struggled with Parkinson's Disease and Dementia. It is with sadness and rejoicing that we celebrate her home going. She had a personal relationship with our Lord that strengthened her throughout her life and ushered her into His presence this past Wednesday. She was preceded in death by her husband, J C and her daughter, Charlotte Cannaday. She is survived by . . . .
