Funeral service for Verley "Sis" Pierce, 94, Elgin, will be 2:00 pm Saturday at the Elgin Church of Christ with Adraine Smith officiating. Mrs. Pierce died Tuesday at a Lawton hospital. Burial will be at Elgin Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Elgin under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Fletcher. She was born May 26, 1916 in Marietta, Texas to Joseph Fletcher and Annie May (Lock) Pool. She married Robert W. Pierce on July 7, 1940 in Anadarko, Oklahoma. He died March 12, 2003. She was the matriarch of her family and an awesome person. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Mrs. Pierce was a member of the Elgin Church of Christ. She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Imogene and Ronny Wagner of Hugo, Oklahoma; four sons and their wives, Eugene and Sue Pierce of Keota, Oklahoma, Richard and Kathy Pierce of Longview, Texas, Jimmy and Sharon Pierce of Elgin, Oklahoma and Bobby and Freda Pierce of Sulphur, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren, Jana James, Tammy Pierce, Richard Pierce, Gina Smith, Jammy Pierce, Patricia Pierce, Julie Harris, Sarah Wutz, Jeannie Farahnak, Jessica Ritter, Heather Knott, Brad Knott and Jimmy Vasquez; twenty great grandchildren; fifteen great great grandchildren; a sister in law and her husband, Margaret and Donald Howell; and many nieces and nephews. Her parents, three sisters and a brother preceded her in death.
