Obituary

Tina Marie Brown, age 55, passed away peacefully at her home in Lawton on Monday, May 11, 2026. Born on October 25, 1970, Tina was lovingly adopted by Bill and Joan Brown and raised in Lawton.

A 1989 graduate of Eisenhower High School, Tina went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Cameron University, followed by an Associate Degree in Nursing from Western Oklahoma State College.

Tina was a dedicated and compassionate caregiver who devoted more than 25 years to serving others as a Registered Nurse. Throughout her career, she worked with hospitals, specialty practices, and home healthcare providers across Oklahoma, including Oklahoma Children's OU Health, Ascension St. John Medical Center, and the Southwestern Behavioral Health Center. She cared for patients through some of healthcare's most demanding moments, including the COVID-19 pandemic, offering comfort and compassion during times of uncertainty and isolation. While her healing touch comforted patients of all ages, she held a special place in her heart for pediatric nursing. She also cared for individuals navigating behavioral health challenges and addiction recovery with empathy, dignity, and respect.

That spirit of compassion extended far beyond her profession. Giving was simply part of who Tina was. She never hesitated to support disaster relief efforts, leave a generous tip, or quietly help a friend or stranger through a difficult time. She believed deeply in showing up for people when they needed it most. Her kindness extended just as naturally to animals, especially rescues. Over the years, she opened her home to countless cats, dogs, and even a few reptiles that needed care, safety, and love. Whether caring for patients, supporting others through life's hardships, or rescuing animals in need, Tina led with empathy and a selfless instinct to help wherever she could.

Though never one to seek attention, Tina possessed a remarkable range of creative talents. From an early age, she excelled in both vocal and instrumental music, singing a beautiful harmonic alto while mastering piano, flute, and percussion. She also found joy in creating with her hands through sewing, crocheting, and home improvement projects. In fact, she could give just about any handyman a run for his money. No theater costume request or extracurricular fundraising idea dreamed up by her daughter was ever too ambitious for Tina to bring to life. Her creativity was perhaps most visible during Halloween, a holiday she absolutely loved. From elaborate handmade costumes to festive decorations, she embraced every opportunity to make the season feel magical for those around her.

Above all else, Tina was a loving and devoted mother, forging a special bond with her daughter that transcended parenthood. She passed down her sarcastic sense of humor, love of the color purple, and appreciation for Stephen King stories. She never failed to support her activities, even when out of her comfort zone, from cheerleading competitions to sorority celebrations.

Tina is survived by her daughter, Kayla Coffey; her sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Greg Bachman; and her niece and nephew, Kate and Luke Bachman.
