Thomas Gwen Monroe, 84, of Fletcher, Oklahoma passed away Thursday February 10, 2022, in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Thomas was born May 6, 1937, in Lawton, Oklahoma to Clarence and Verna (Elliott) Monroe. As a child Thomas grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma, where he met the love of his life Bernice (Hennessee) Monroe. They married March 25,1957 and were happily married for 64 years, and to this union a son, Tommy Monroe and three daughters, Paula, Connie, and Angie were born. Thomas and Bernice moved to Fletcher, Oklahoma in 1978 and made it their home.

Through the years Thomas held many jobs but ended up doing what he loved as a self-employed carpenter. Later after retiring he was side by side with his wife building crafts for the local craft shows.

Thomas loved his sports. In his younger years you could find him and his family on the softball field, Thomas also loved to be at the racetrack supporting his daughter and son-in-law. He also enjoyed being at the ballgames and motorcycle track cheering on his grandkids. If the Oklahoma Sooners were playing Thomas was decked out in crimson and cream cheering on his Sooners. His biggest joy was his kids and grandkids, giving each of them a unique nickname to help keep them all special.

Thomas is survived by his two daughters, Connie Ledford and husband Greg of Cement, Oklahoma, and Angie Rowe and husband Jimmy of Dickson, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Preceding Thomas in death are his wife, Bernice Monroe; son Tommy Monroe and daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Greg Hicks; parents, Verna and Clarence Monroe; mother and father-in-law, Paul and Peachy Hennessee; brothers, Troy Monroe and Billy Monroe and sister, Ethel Hughes.
