Funeral service for Thelma Francis Wainscott, 96, formerly of Lawton, will be 2:00 pm Thursday, April 11, in Cameron Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Jones, Pastor, officiating. Mrs. Wainscott went to be with her Lord on Friday, April 5 in Oklahoma City. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. She was born October 15, 1916 in Ennis, Texas to George Everett and Reba Nancy (Preddy) Prestidge. She married George E. Wainscott on March 17, 1956 in Lawton. He died March 21, 1994. She was a member of Cameron Baptist Church for over 50 years and lived in Lawton most of her life. Thelma will be remembered most as a loving mother and grandmother, who was generous and happy, made us laugh and cooked the biggest and best homemade meals. We love her and have been blessed by having her in our lives. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Hamilton, Burkburnett, Texas and Thresa Matheny, Oklahoma City; two stepdaughters, Georgia Boggs, Lawton and Oleta Floth and her husband Paul, Houston; many grandchildren, step grandchildren and great grandchildren; a daughter in law, Kay Newman Moore; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Her son, Johnnie Newman preceded her in death.
