Teresa Jean Wicker, our beloved Gran, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with her daughters and granddaughter by her side. She was born on April 14, 1942, in a shanty near the Arkabutla Dam in Mississippi, beginning a life marked by resilience, devotion, and deep love for family.
Teresa was raised in Vernon, Texas, among the Texas bluebonnets, which she cherished all her life. She later made her home in Lawton, Oklahoma, where she raised her family and built a life of service and care for others.
A homemaker in her early years, Teresa also helped with the wheat harvest, never shying away from hard work. She pursued her calling in nursing with determination, spending a formative period at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, where she earned her nursing degree. She devoted her career to Labor and Delivery at Comanche County Memorial Hospital as a Registered Nurse. Her steady hands, calm presence, and genuine compassion left a lasting impact on countless families.
Gran was the consummate hobbyist. Her curiosity and creativity knew no bounds-over the years her adventures included canning, cooking, sewing, quilting, gardening, gaming, and building collections of all kinds. If there was something new to learn or make, she was eager to try it. Her home reflected her talents, her humor, and her love of staying busy with her hands and mind.
Teresa is survived by her dear daughters Deborah (Debbie) Jean Southern and husband Brian, and Stephanie Diane Keene and husband Mark. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Brandon Arnold and wife Kristen, Meagan Wheeler and wife Sarah Tirnanic, Brandon Keene and wife Paulina, and Ric Southern; great-grandchildren, Allison, Caden, Logan, Emelyn, Adelaide, Jesse, Wilson, and Jocelyn; and her beloved Golden Doodle, Austin, who brought her joy and companionship.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Donald Wicker; her parents, Herman "Greasy" Wilson and Geneva Wilson; her sister, Ruth Proctor; and her great-grandson, Jackson Keene.
Teresa Jean Wicker will be remembered for her strength, her generosity, her many talents, and the unwavering love she gave to her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she nurtured, the hands she held, and the family she so dearly loved. If you knew our Gran then you surely know, "It will be just fine."
