Suzanne Chadwick Ray lived a life that sparkled with adventure, achievement, and an unquenchable love for the world around her. Born on August 14, 1942, in Wichita Falls, Texas, as the only child of Betty Lou and Timothy Spangler Chadwick, she grew up in the warm embrace of a close-knit family in Henrietta. From her earliest days, Suzanne's independent spirit shone brightly-she was a standout cheerleader and top student at Henrietta High School, where she cheered with infectious energy and excelled in her studies.
Eager for new horizons, she ventured to Abilene Christian College, but her near-perfect typing skills soon opened doors in the professional world. As a legal secretary for several prominent attorneys, she discovered her knack for precision and insight. This foundation propelled her to earn a bachelor's degree and later a master's in economics from the University of Texas at Dallas. Suzanne's career soared as a senior economist, where she held multiple executive roles, tackling complex financial challenges with expertise that made her a highly sought-after expert witness in courtrooms nationwide.
Her adventures extended far beyond the boardroom. A passionate world traveler, Suzanne explored the ancient wonders of Egypt and Israel, the historic charm of Europe, and the timeless beauty of Great Britain. She embraced each destination with the same enthusiasm she brought to the places she called home, planting roots in Pensacola, Florida; Dallas, Texas; Cardiff-by-the-Sea, California; Holladay, Utah; Granbury, Texas; and finally, Oklahoma City. Wherever she went, life was an invitation to discover more.
Deeply faithful, Suzanne was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served with love in the Relief Society, mentoring sisters with her warm guidance; in the Salt Lake Temple; and alongside her husband, Larry, in the Addiction Recovery Program. Her creative spirit flourished in genealogy, where she meticulously built extensive family trees for her own lines and those of countless friends. Quilting brought her joy as she crafted pieces for charitable causes, and in the kitchen, she delighted in baking-often savoring the batter as much as the finished treats. Though cooking wasn't her daily pursuit, Suzanne's appreciation for global cuisines meant she was always ready to try something new and exciting.
Surrounded by a loving family, Suzanne is survived by her husband, Larry Ray; daughters Beth Ann and her husband Anthony, and Paige and her husband Ulysses; daughter-in-law Betsy; grandchildren Cameron and his wife Breanna, and Faith; three great-grandchildren, Zaiden Breck, Cirilla, and Leon Exton (named for her beloved grandfather); stepdaughter Connie and her husband Pat, and their sons Conner and Mason; lifelong best friend Ellen Kile and her family; and a vast circle of friends cherished over a lifetime of connections.
A visitation to celebrate Suzanne's extraordinary life will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Becker-Rabon Funeral Home in Lawton, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Noon in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. Though she passed peacefully in Oklahoma City on November 6, 2025, at age 83, with her family by her side, Suzanne's legacy of joy, exploration, and kindness endures in every heart she touched.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Emerald Hospice and The Harrison of Oklahoma City. Natalia and Selena were true angels to Suzanne, and the family will remain forever grateful for their boundless love and dedication.
