Obituary

Sue Ann (Wright) Clemmer, age 78, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024 in Edmond, Oklahoma. Sue was born June 20, 1945 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Ralph and Elva Wright. Her family owned Wright's Grocery on SW Sheridan Road and F Avenue. She was the youngest of four children.  Sue began her adult life as a bride at 18 after graduating from Lawton High School in 1963. She and Bob were stationed in Germany, where their first daughter, Susan was born a year and a half later. Bob and Sue had many adventures living in Germany and the family still enjoys hearing those stories today. In 1970 Bob and Sue brought their family of five back to Oklahoma where Bob and his brother-in-law ran Farmers Lumber Co. in Lawton while Sue was an excellent homemaker who taught her children strong family values. Sue's children and grandchildren have volumes of fabulous memories of easter egg hunts, mud pie making, card games, piano practice, puppies and kittens, and road trip picnics, usually orchestrated by Sue. Bob and Sue became Christians and raised their family while teaching Sunday School, leading youth groups, and going on mission trips. When she had an empty nest in 1985, Sue bought a drapery and upholstery business, Fabric Works, in Lawton, which she successfully operated until 2003. Sue dispensed interior design advice as well as prayer and counseling to anyone who visited the store. Her family often hears from people that Sue helped them through hard times. In 1995 Bob and Sue reopened Clemmer Pet Resort after Bob's parents passed away. They gave hundreds of local families a great pet boarding facility until their kids took over in 2019. Sue enjoyed life with her grandkids. She had a fiery personality and she always told everyone how they should live their lives; she was usually right.

Sue is survived by her husband, Bob L. Clemmer of Lawton, her children, Susan Walker and husband JD Walker Jr. of Norman, Oklahoma, and Tracy Hambrick and husband, John Hambrick, Jr. of Lawton, JD and Susan's children, Kayla and husband, Luke Myers, and Grayson Walker of Norman, John and Tracy's children Sara and husband, Florian Helff of Seattle, Washington, Krystina Leonhardt and husband, Chad, Lauren Davis and husband, Brad, Ashley Green and husband, Drake, John Hambrick III and wife, Destanie and Joshua Hambrick and wife, Lindsey all of Oklahoma. She also enjoyed 17 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her mother and father, sisters, Shirley and Velma, brother, Ralph Jr., and son, Robert (Robby) D. Clemmer (died 1993).

We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at the private care home, Graceful Living. Words cannot express how beautiful it was to see Mom's connection with you all in the four months she spent with you.

Sue's Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 10:30 am at The Christian Center, 2405 SW Lee Blvd. in Lawton, officiated by Pastor Paul Craig.
