Burial will be under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
Steven Lee Turner, born on April 27, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio, to Homer Milton and Ida Marie (Baker) Turner, spent his early years in Indianapolis, Indiana. He shared a devoted 55-year marriage with his beloved wife, Wanda Lou (Carter) Turner of Ewing, Virginia. Together, they raised two children in Vacaville, California, where they resided for 29 years before retiring elsewhere.
Steven worked as an operator and technician for Anheuser-Busch in Fairfield, California, and was also a skilled general aviation pilot with a multi-engine commercial license. A proud U.S. Army and Air Force veteran, he served his country in Vietnam and was a member of VFW Post 5263 in Lawton, Oklahoma. Steven deeply valued his heritage, tracing his lineage to ancestors who fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Civil War, with family ties to both Union and Confederate forces.
A passionate traveler, Steven visited nearly every state, including Alaska and Hawaii, and explored a range of destinations internationally, including Guam, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Mexico, Switzerland, and the Caribbean islands.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wanda, and a half-brother, David Wilbourne Cox, of Indianapolis, Indiana.
He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Lynn Graft, his son, Shawn Cary Turner, and his two granddaughters, Hayley Maranda and Alexie Mae Graft, all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He also leaves behind his half-brother, Edward Arnold Cox of LeHigh Acres, Florida, and his half-sister, Susan Jane (Cox) Pressler and her husband Steven of Martinsville, Indiana. Steven will be remembered fondly by family and friends for his love of life, country, and heritage.
