Funeral service for Steve Lenn Smith will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2019 in Letitia Baptist Church with Matt Kelly, Pastor officiating.

Burial will follow in Letitia Cemetery under direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

The family will greet friends from 5-7 pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Steve Lenn Smith, Lawton, died Monday, November 11, 2019 at the age of 70.  He was born May 6, 1949 in Lawton to Harrel and Alfreida Smith.  He was a 1967 graduate of Central High School and married Mary L. Smith on June 1, 1968 at Letitia Baptist Church, east of Lawton.

Steve worked for his father at Smith Construction building houses and later had his own construction company.  He also worked in the family rodeo stock company, Buckin S. Rodeo Company, which stocked numerous rodeos each year.  Sometimes Steve would participate in the bull riding and bare back riding events or serve as a pick up man.  Steve later worked for the Comanche County Sheriff's Department and retired as a Captain in 2010 after 20 years of service.

He was a member of Letitia Baptist Church where he was a deacon and served on many committees.  He was also a member of the Central High School Board.  Steve loved to ride horses and raise cattle.  He even took part in a Chisholm Trail Cattle Drive.  Steve enjoyed sports, OU football, Rodeo, Snow Skiing, Golf and traveling.  However, his greatest enjoyment was supporting his grandchildren and attending their events.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; three children and their spouses, Chad and Jessica Smith, Bethel Acres, Oklahoma, Tanya and Les Abbott, Lawton, Amber and Austin Myers, Comanche, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Jacob Smith and wife Korie, Caleb Smith, Gunner Smith, Cole Abbott, Landen Abbott, Zac Abbott, Hensley Myers and Case Myers; one great grandson, Titan Smith; his father, Harrel Smith, Lawton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Alfred and Brenda Smith and Doug and Sally Smith, all of Lawton.

His mother preceded him in death.
