Graveside service for SSG (Retired) Robert Eugene Downs will be at 10:00 am Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin.

Burial with full military honors will be under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

Robert Eugene Downs, 62, Lawton passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017 at his home in Lawton.  He was born April 19, 1955 at Clark Air Force Base in Pampanga, Philippines to K.T. and Betty (McKnight) Downs. He joined the US Army at 17, and served 20 years before retiring at Fort Sill in 1992.  He married his spouse of 42 years, Jean Schmoldt on August 28, 1975 in Wildflecken, Germany.  Before Robert became disabled, he worked for DIEBOLD servicing bank equipment, repairing ATM's, installing security systems and vault locks.

Survivors include his wife Jean of the home, a son Jeffrey R. Downs, his mother Betty Burrnett and a brother Karl Downs.

He is preceded in death by his father and a brother Kenny Downs.
