Age 79, Lawton - Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, with full military honors. Sergeant Harkins died February 20 in a local hospital. He was born February 15, 1931 in Jackson, Michigan to Earl and Lucille Harkins. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Perpetual Member of the Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the American Legion. He was retired from the Army where he earned the National Defense Service Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster, Combat Infantryman Badge, Korean Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with six service stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm. He married Deanna Rosenow in Lawton in 1988. He is survived by his wife of the home, two daughters, Debra Harkins and Sandy Harkins, and a sister, Janet Mathews of Tecumseh, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
