SSG (Retired) Lester C. Wright, Jr, 68, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 16, 2025. He was born in Berryville, Arkansas on February 21, 1957, to Lester and Ruelta Wright. He was the eldest of three boys. He attended school in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, graduating high school in 1974. From high school Les joined the United States Army, embarking on what would be a lifelong service to his country. Initially serving as a company clerk, he would later find his calling in life as a law enforcement officer. Throughout his career Les was a soldier, postal worker, and finished his government service as a civil service employee, but if you asked him to sum up who he was in one word, he would have responded with "cop." He was one of those fortunate few who found his purpose in life at an early age, and was able to live it to the fullest. Most recently, Les was a reserve Sheriff's deputy for the Latimer County Sheriff's Office, and he loved every minute of his time with the department.

Les was a devoted father and grandfather, entertaining his kids and grandkids with his stories and jokes and he was never without a rack of ribs to smoke when he had visitors. He was the person you could always turn to in times of need, day or night. Les was also an avid outdoorsman. When he wasn't out playing golf, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, or riding his motorcycle, he could be found on a lake fishing or out hunting. He was fond of the saying, "A bad day of fishing beats a good day at work". Whatever he was doing, you can guarantee Les was doing it with his whole heart.

Les is survived by his brothers Craig and Steve, his youngest son Sean Wright and daughter Leanna, as well as his eldest son and daughter-in-law Eric and Tanya Wright, and their children Layne, Landon, and Kaidence; all of the Tulsa area.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Ruelta.
