SSG (Retired) John Victor Swicegood went to Valhalla Saturday, June 17, 2023 at the age of 51.  He was born April 1972 in Recife, Brasil to Glenn and Audrey Swicegood.  He spent his formative years in Brazil; he attended and graduated high school from The School of the Americas in Brasil.  Upon graduation he immediately began and completed 3 years of college at Auburn University.

John married Tina on June 21, 1996 in Manhattan, Kansas, they welcomed their daughter Caelan into their family June 2003, later making Elgin, Oklahoma their home.

John enlisted in the U.S. Army in March of 1994 and retired at Fort Sill in July of 2014.  He received numerous awards and decorations to include 3 Iraq Campaign Medals; 5 Army Commendation Medals; 7 Army Achievement Medals; Valorous Unit Award; 6 Army Good Conduct Medals ; 3 National Defense Service Medals; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; 2 Korean Service Medal; Defense Service Medal and 2 Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbons .

Following his retirement from the Army, John worked as a trainer/developer with Serco on the CMS contract.

He is survived by his wife and daughter Tina and Caelan Swicegood; his father, Glenn Swicegood; sister and brother-in-law, Luann Swicegood-Wolf and Steve Wolf; his brother and sister-in-law and niece, Brian, Debbie and Lauren Swicegood.

His mother preceded him in death.
