Graveside service for SSG (Retired) Jeffery Keith Leger will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Fort Sill National Cemetery.
Burial with full military honors will be under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
Jeffery Keith Leger, 48, was met by his Savior's embrace on Friday, November 22, 2024. Jeff passed at his homestead, Leger Ranch, in Petrolia, Texas. He will be laid to rest at Fort Sill National Cemetery on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
Jeff was born on July 3, 1976 in Oklahoma City, OK to Patty Sue Barrett and Jeffery Michael Leger. He graduated from Choctaw High School in 1994 and immediately joined the military. He honorably served in the United States Army for 21 years. During his service, Jeff held multiple roles including Combat Medic, ICU Ward Master, Master Resilience Trainer, and Personnel Records Specialist. He served among The Big Red 1 while deployed, fighting in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Jeff was a decorated soldier with awards including the Army Commendation Medal with Valor, two Meritorious Service Medals, National Defense Service Medals, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Combat Medical Badge, and was nominated for a Bronze Star. Few knew the pain and scars that Jeff and his fellow soldiers carried as a result of these honors.
Jeff was proud to be his mom's "platinum child" and never missed an opportunity to beat her at a game. One of his greatest joys was seeing his little sister Liz turn her life over to the Lord. He credited his step-mom, Regina, with keeping him on the right path so he could make something of himself. Jeff fiercely loved his daughter, Isabelle, and was the proudest Papaw to his beloved granddaughter, Aaliyah. He was extremely proud to watch his nephew Ben grow into a wonderful husband and father. In 2020 Jeff married the love of his life, Sandy, and they established a happy home raising beef cattle and an assortment of farm animals. He often bragged that he was happy that he didn't "marry no sissy girl" as they worked together. He appreciated the love and spiritual wisdom his mother-in-law, Debbie Honeycutt shared and was proud to work alongside the man he said he respected most, father-in-law Robert Honeycutt. Jeff was an avid outdoorsman and shared his love helping others catch fish or process deer. He devoted his life to giving from showing up with a tractor to dig a trench to providing softball lessons to any athlete that wanted to learn to stopping to help anyone he saw struggling on the side of the road, never once expecting anything in return.
Jeff is survived by wife, Sandy Leger, daughter, Isabelle Leger, granddaughter, Aaliyah Ford, stepdaughter, Hannah Wahl, stepson, Caden Wahl, mother, Patty Gragg, sister, Elizabeth Gragg, stepmom, Regina Smith, brother, Shiloh Smith, nephews, Ben and Nathan Cross, sister-in-law, Shanon Stone Uchmanowicz, niece, Denise Bourlon, uncle and aunt, Bob and Linda Thomas, mother and father-in-law, Robert and Debbie Honeycutt, father, Jeffery Michael Leger, countless nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and a multitude of softball families.
