Word has been received of the death of Shirley Mae Wood, 82, Lawton. Services will be at a later date in Joplin, Missouri. Mrs. Wood died Friday at her home. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. She was born on October 5, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri to Ren and Venus (Rowden) Howell. She married Richard Wood in Miami, Oklahoma on April 8, 1955. Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly Brown and Jim of Lawton; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael Wood and Ellen of Tulsa; three grandchildren, David Brown and his wife, Jill, of Lawton, Tina Brown of Lawton, and Karen Owen and her husband, Shawn, Tulsa; eight great grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, Warren Howell and Carol of Joplin, Missouri; and a brother-in-law, David Bates of Independence, Missouri.
