Shirley Mae Sharum died Wednesday, February 7, 2024, in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 87. She was born October 23, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to Henry Obe and Nellie (Moore) Gill. She married David L. Sharum on May 13, 1967 in Romulus, Michigan.
While her primary role was that of a dedicated homemaker, she wore many hats. She served as foster mother, store supervisor, home health aide, cook and waitress. She served as a hospital volunteer for many years and also volunteered for Easter Seals for five years.
She loved quilting, sewing, embroidery, crafts and collecting. She had a love for the outdoors, enjoying the wind as it blew through her hair, walking in the woods and fishing. Yet, above all, she found her greatest fulfillment in her role as a mother and grandmother.
Faith was the cornerstone of Shirley's life and she enjoyed reading her bible. As a dedicated member of Grace Covenant Church in Iron River, Michigan, she shared her faith as a youth leader for girls and Sunday school teacher. Upon relocating to Lawton, she has been faithfully attending University Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, of the home; three children and their spouses, Lorri and Kevin Cramer, Eric and Cae Sharum and Heather and Dave Johnson; five grandchildren, Caleb Sharum, Joshua Sharum and wife Maggie, Hunter Cramer, Emily Johnson and Jacob Johnson; two brothers, Bill Gill and wife Sara and Dick Gill; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both parents, a daughter, Nicole "Nikki" Sharum, a brother, Alfred, and two sisters, Barbara and Beverly.
