Funeral service for Sherry Ann Knowles, 78, of Lawton, will be at 1:30pm on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Becker Rabon Funeral Home Chapel in Lawton with Pastor Justin Evans of First Baptist Church of Indiahoma, Oklahoma officiating.
The family will greet friends Thursday evening, November 20 from 5-7pm. She will be laid to rest in the IOOF Cemetery, Indiahoma, Oklahoma.
Sherry Ann Knowles of Cache, Oklahoma went to her heavenly home on the morning of Monday, November 17, 2025, in Oklahoma City after a long struggle with dementia.
Sherry Ann was born May 8, 1947, in Lawton, Oklahoma to George Harold and Mae Ethel (Neuwirth) Robertson. She graduated from Indiahoma High School in 1965. Sherry was united in marriage to Melvin (Butch) Knowles on July 10, 1965, at the Holy City in the Wichita Mountains. They were married for 38 loving years before his death in 2003.
Sherry started her working career at Ford Motor Credit. She worked there for several years, then went to work as a secretary for Brockland Elementary. Later she was employed by Howard Smith Ford where she continued learning all about the finances of the car business. When that business sold, she went to work for Billingsley Ford of Lawton as their office manager. She loved working with all the people there. She always said they were like one big family to her. In 2017, she retired after many years of doing what she loved.
After her retirement, Sherry enjoyed shopping, going to the "No, No," also known as the casino, working outside in her yard, planting flowers, cleaning (which she SAID she enjoyed), and reading at least a book, sometimes two, per day. Oh, and did I say shopping? Yes, she loved shopping with her sister. She enjoyed going out to eat and talking to her siblings on the phone. She looked forward to holidays with family. It was a time for special memory making. She absolutely loved spending time with her two grandkids who affectionately called her Grandma Sherry, and her two precious great grandkids who she affectionately called, The Babies. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Indiahoma.
Sherry is survived by her son, Terry and wife Donna of Cache, one brother, Jay Dee Robertson and wife Ann of Indiahoma, three sisters: Peggy Donnell of Lawton, Becky Haynie and husband Tony of Marlow, and Brandi Robertson of Las Vegas, NV. She had two grandchildren, Jeremiah Tahah and wife Michelle of Moore and Jared Tahah of Oklahoma City. She also had two great grandchildren, MaKenna and Meredith. Zane and Tatum were also like great grands to her. In addition, Sherry had numerous nieces and nephews: Jodee, Kassie, Lindsey, Meagan, Ryan, Jeffrey, Holly, and Madeline.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister, Georgia Berry and her husband Darrel of Camden, TN.
Sherry will hold a special place in our hearts. Our lives will forever be changed because she touched each and every one of us. It will not be the same without her, but Heaven is rejoicing in her arrival. Her memory will live on...
The family would like to express special thanks to Tules Worrie for coming to the rescue when we needed someone to help care for Sherry. She became part of our family and we love her dearly. Thanks to The Chateau of Lawton for all the love and care during her time with them. Also, we would like to thank the Neuro ICU unit at INTEGRIS in Oklahoma City for going above and beyond with their care for Sherry in her time of need.
