Shawna Kay Babin was born to Emile and Wanda Babin (Howard) in Lebanon, OH, January 27, 1967, and departed this earth June 11, 2023 in Snyder, OK after a short battle with cancer. Shawna is preceded in death by her mother, Wanda Babin (Howard); and grandmothers Geneva Coomer and Mildred Babin.
Shawna Kay Babin was an honor roll student at Shannon Elementary in Morgan City, LA as a child. As she grew older, her rebellious spirit led to wisdom. Shawna's willpower was present at a young age, determined to live her life unrestrained, free spirited, and on her terms. Shawna felt most at home following the unbeaten path. She was proud to be an Aquarius, and was proud of her stubbornness. If you were quirky and different, you were considered a friend to Shawna. Those who knew her best both respected and perhaps feared her unusual rebellious, revolutionary spirit. As she became older, time became pliable, and plans were a dirty word. If she said she was coming to visit, don't ask when. It was her life and no one was going to get in her way. Shawna enjoyed yoga, hiking, and checking things off her "bucket list."
Those who knew her best would say her loyalty, passion, and smile could make you feel like a million bucks. She was known to get loud and physical, if necessary, yet could make a stranger feel like they've known each other forever in just a few minutes.
At one time in her adult years, she offered "Aquarian Aesthetics" services with the slogan "Whatever it takes to beautify your world! House/Yard/Pet." May the lyrics, "We came to this earth to experience it all, the messy and the beautiful" be Shawna's anthem for this lifetime.
Shawna Babin and James Strong "tied the knot" September 24, 2022 in a traditional Gaelic Handfasting Ceremony, to celebrate both of their Scottish Heritage.
Shawna is survived by husband, James Strong; stepdaughter, Ginger and husband Jay; stepdaughter, Carmen; stepson, Seth; grandchildren, Moxxi, Charlie, Charlotte, & Jackson; brother Scott Babin; father Emile Babin; son Jacob Fields; and two dogs who loved her dearly, Nola and Gator.
Memorial services will be held July 8 (time TBA) at Lake Lawtonka, Lawton, OK.
