Age 83, Oklahoma City - Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill. SGM Wilson died Monday in an Oklahoma City hospital following a sudden illness. Burial with full military honors will be under the direction of Becker Funeral Home. He was a beloved and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed. He was born September 27, 1925 in Chillicothe, Ohio to Carl and Bonnadine (Brown) Wilson. He married Vida May Ross on September 6, 1953 in Chillicothe. She died December 10, 1991. He married Diane De Wine in November 1994 in Oklahoma City. SGM Wilson served in the U.S. Army for thirty years, retiring in 1974 at Fort Sill. He then worked for Civil Service in the Communications Electronics Department, retiring in October 1990. Walter's nickname from his military days was "Bear" and many of his close friends remember him by that nickname. All of Walter's family and friends loved his wonderful sense of humor, his laughter and joy of life. You know we'll miss you so. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Teresa Skaggs, two granddaughters, Rachael and Sarah, a grandson, Adam, a great granddaughter, Alyssa, a brother, Gerrold Wilson and son-in-law, Jim Barker. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Barker.
