Graveside service for SFC (Retired) Walter Joseph Werner, 88, Lawton will be at 10:00 AM Friday at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill with Rev. Bob Jones pastor of Cameron Baptist Church officiating. Sgt Werner died Monday in a local care center. Inurnment with full military honors will be under the direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. He was born February 14, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York to Walter Joseph and Marie (Hoffman) Werner. He married Yoneko Tokunaga in 1991 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Sgt Werner retired from the U.S. Army after twenty one years of service. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring after twenty years. Survivors include his wife, of the home, two daughters, April Towles and her husband Jerry, Granbury, Texas and Florence Young, Weatherford, Texas, six grandchildren, Kent Towles, Lubbock, Texas, Kristi Chumbley, Artesia, New Mexico, Keri Kirk, Granbury, Texas, Robin Beets, San Antonio, Texas, Joe Young and John Young, both of Weatherford, Texas, eleven great grandchildren and a sister, Geri Scaramuzzo.
