Obituary

Graveside service with full military honors for SFC (Retired) Howard "Jim" Caudill, Jr. will be 9:00 A.M. Monday, October 21, 2024 at Fort Sill National Cemetery.

Jim passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 85.

Jim was born December 10, 1938 in Ethel, West Virginia to Howard and Parlee (Lowe) Caudill.

After graduating high school, he joined the military. He served 20 years with two tours in Vietnam. He served two years as a sergeant in the motor pool at Fort. Sill, Oklahoma. He retired from the Army in 1977 with a bronze star, among other honors.

He married Willa Mae (Krebbs) on December 10, 1968 in Vernon, Texas. He happily took on the role of father to her four children, Ricky, David, Bobby, and Trudi. They had many adventures together until her death in November 2013.

He held many important roles throughout his life. After retiring from the military, he worked as a maintenance tech in the newly constructed Goodyear Tire and Rubber plant. He was a Coca-Cola truck driver, lawn mower, handyman, and so much more. But his favorite role was that of husband, brother, daddy, and papaw.

He loved being outdoors, whether he was fishing or fixing up cars. He had a passion for music, playing guitar, singing western songs, and listening to his extensive record collection. Later in life, he enjoyed reading and sitting on the porch looking over Lake Lawtonka with a hot cup of coffee while waving at the passersby. He loved spending time with his daughter, watching his grandkids grow, and getting to meet his great grandkids.

His is survived by his sisters: Patty Austin and Mona Lee; brothers: George and Michael Caudill; children: Richard Nance and Trudi Glass; son-in-law: Robert Glass; grandchildren: Richard Nance, Betty Archambault, Tammy Athnos, Gina Mifflin, Heather Glass, Holly Glass, Hanna Glass, and Casey Waysepappy along with many friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his father, mother, step mother, Isadore, wife, brother, Sammy, sisters Rose and Tomalene, and sons, David and Bobby.
