SFC (Retired) Gary A. Hoffman, 71, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at his home in Lawton.  Gary was born February 15, 1946 in Allentown, PA to Robert and Helen (Chapman) Hoffman. He married Bat "Bic" Dinh on January 21, 1971 in Saigon, Vietnam.

Gary grew up in Allentown, PA and graduated from high school there. Following high school he joined the United States Army and was in the Army until his retirement in 1987. Gary was a veteran of Vietnam and while in the Army earned numerous awards, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal w/Four Bronze Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Three Overseas Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal-5, Army Service Ribbon, Four Overseas Service Ribbons, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon-2, and Drivers Badge w/Sharpshooter (rifle M16). He was a very patriotic man and was very proud to serve his country. While in the Army Gary and his wife Bic were stationed in several places including Vietnam, Germany, Virginia, Hawaii, Alaska, Kentucky, Texas, and Oklahoma.

Following Gary's retirement from the Army and settling in Lawton, Bic owned and operated Hoffman's Bar and Grill with Gary's assistance at different locations until their retirement in 2016. In February of 2017 Gary was unfortunately diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and fought a tough battle until the very end.

Being from Pennsylvania, Gary was an avid Philadelphia Eagle's fan and made a great Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. He was a big kid at heart and was known as a practical joker to everyone who knew him. One of his biggest thrills was the time he was able to spend with his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his wife, Bic of the home, son Thai Hoffman and wife Carrie of Moore, OK, his daughters, Sherry Jones and husband Michael of Springfield, MO, Tuyet "Tia" Williams of Springfield, MO, and Amy Ladlee and husband Tim of Arnaudville, LA, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, four sisters, two brothers, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
