Funeral services for SFC (Retired) Boyd D. "Johnny" Wait, 75, Lawton, will be 9:30 am Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel. Sergeant Wait died Friday, November 15 at his home. Burial with full military honors will be at the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin. The family will greet friends from 5-7 pm Tuesday November 19 at the funeral home. "Johnny" was born December 16, 1937 in Otter Tail County, Minnesota to Douglas and Ellen (Marsh) Wait. He joined the Army in 1956. He earned the Bronze Star Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm. He married Margarete Koslowsky on December 24, 1959 in Germany. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of the home; a son and daughter in law, Mike and Suzan Wait, Elgin; a daughter and son in law, Tammy Cowley Elkins and Joe, Lawton; three grandchildren, Chris Wait, Justin Wait and his wife Korynne and Ashley Cowley; a great grandson, Yosef Wait; a sister, Beverly Phelps and her husband Benny, Cohasset, Minnesota; a brother, Bruce Wait, Everett, Washington; and a brother in law, Robert Sharp, Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bonnie Sharp.
