Sam Jenkins, 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2026, in Lawton, Oklahoma,
surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Sam was born on January 5, 1948, at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, to Roy Jenkins and Carmel (Swan)
Jenkins. As the son of a U.S. Army sergeant, Sam spent part of his early years living in
Germany and Holland before his family eventually settled in Lawton. He graduated from
Lawton High School in 1965.
In 1973, Sam married Stephanie Jenkins. They shared 53 wonderful
years of marriage and raised two children, Johnny Jenkins and Michelle Alexander.
Sam began working as a lifeguard at Fort Sill before being drafted into the United States
Army. He served his country as a medic during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970.
After his military service, Sam dedicated 52 years of hard work to Howard Smith Ford. He
also spent many years working a second job at Martin's Restaurant, always providing for his
family.
Sam loved going to the beach, taking vacations, watching classic military movies and
television shows, and spending time golfing. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, going out to eat with his family and had a big sweet tooth. He was also fond of animals, music, and was
known for his wonderful sense of humor that brought joy to those around him.
Above all, Sam was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was deeply
loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Stephanie Jenkins; his son, Johnny Jenkins and wife
Mitzi; his daughter, Michelle Alexander and husband Russell; his grandchildren: Stephanie
Furr and husband Richard, Samantha Parker and husband Brandon, Brooke Jenkins and significant other Stirling Morgan, and Alexia Jenkins and significant other Zacarias Diaz De
Leon; his great-grandchildren: Kiley Parker, Hadley Parker, Xander Furr, and Valerie Diaz De
Leon; his brother-in-law, Hurst Jones and his close friends, Ronny Foster of Killeen, Texas, and Billy Sheppard of Tacoma, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Carmel Jenkins; his aunt, Caroline Swan;
and his great-granddaughter, Susie Furr.
