Funeral for Salvador G. Lucero, 83, Lawton will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jessie Forrest, chaplain, Faith Hospice officiating. Mr. Lucero died Thursday, April 12, 2012 in Lawton. Arrangements are under the direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. He was born December 8, 1928 in El Paso, Texas. He was raised by Leonardo Lucero and Carmen Gonzales. He attended Ysleta Elementary and Ysleta High School, where he was an artist in the school yearbook. He met his wife Maria A. Lechuga in high school when he was 16 and she was 15. They were married the following year in 1946. They had four children, Sal, Jr., Norma, Larry and Yvonne Salazar. Mr. Lucero was an artist and sculpted Lady Liberty and other sculptures on the American Legion Wall in Mangum. Before coming to Lawton where he, his wife and children resided he was a businessman in Ysleta, Texas where he and two other brothers and his father ran and owned Lucero and Sons Plastering Company. He then went on his own and owned and operated The Plastering Company and Ex Monte Brick and Rock Company and Marbolina Stucco Manufacturing Company. When he moved to Lawton he was the owner of OK-Tex Plastering Company until his retirement in 2010. He is survived by his wife, Maria A., of the home, son Larry, Hawaii and daughter Yvonne Salazar, Lawton, many grandkids and great grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Sal, Jr., a daughter, Norma and granddaughter, Yvette.
