Funeral service for Ruth B, Young, 74, Lawton will be at 1:30 pm Saturday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Charles McConnell, Pastor of Hastings Baptist Church, Hastings, Oklahoma officiating. Mrs. Young died Tuesday in a Lawton hospital. Burial will be at 2:00 pm Sunday in the Smithville Cemetery, Smithville, Oklahoma, with Rev. Randy Keiss, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Octavia, OK officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. She was born June 10, 1937 in Smithville, Oklahoma to Robert Lee and Hazel V. (Howard) Phillips. She married Roy W. Young on June 28, 1957 in Poteau, Oklahoma. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in English from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and later earned her Master's in Special Education. She taught school for thirty years before retiring in 1998. In 2009 she returned to teaching full-time in Lawton. She taught in Broken Bow, Talihina and Lawton. She is survived by her husband Roy W. Young of the home, three daughters, Regina Lee Pollard of Geronimo, OK, Vicki Anne Hensley and husband Dennis D. of Heavener, OK, Karen Dawn Traylor and husband Anthony of Lawton, OK, two sisters, Betty Smith and husband Vernon of Broken Bow, OK, Margie Johnson and husband Ronnie of Watson, OK, seven grandchildren, Jonathan W. Pollard and wife Barbara of Cove, AR, Kyle W. Pollard and companion Brian Pudenz of Heath, TX, Reese C. Hensley of Smithville, OK, Ashlin C. Hensley of Tahlequah, OK, Anthony A. (T.J.) Traylor, II of Stillwater, OK, Kristian A. Traylor of Lawton, OK, Phillip Z. (Zach) Traylor of Lawton, OK, three great grandchildren, Justin Arnold, Caitlin Pollard, Kellan Pollard, two aunts, Florence Howard of Oklahoma City, OK, Dovie Stinson of Cove, AR, and numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, relatives and friends.
