Word has been received of the death of Ruth B. Fairchild, 91, Lawton No services are planned at this time. Ruth died Wednesday, October 24 at her home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Ruth was born January 20, 1921 in Brooklyn, New York to James and Elizabeth (Cooper) Bolland. Her family moved to Ridgewood, New Jersey when she was two years old where she lived until her marriage. She married James Froude in 1941 in Ridgewood and then moved to Hanover, New Hampshire where her husband attended Dartmouth University. After World War II they settled in Ridgewood and began raising a family. With the advent of the U.S. Air Force, the Froudes re-entered the service and traveled around the world. Ruth lived in the Philippines, New Hampshire, Alabama, Japan and California as an Air Force wife. She married Walter Roemer in 1969 and was widowed in 1972. Ruth then married Warren Fairchild in 1975 and lived in Thousand Oaks, California for the next thirty years. While in Thousand Oaks, Ruth worked hard in her yard, creating an oasis of flowers and plants that was the envy of all who visited her. She enjoyed working on her creations and seeing different things come into bloom during different times of the year. Her other great love has been her pets. She doted on her cats and would sternly correct anyone who would suggest they weren't family. After retiring from Sears she was active in her church's thrift store and her women's group. Ruth (Nana) enjoyed all her grandchildren, traveling to Panama, England, Australia, Hawaii and numerous other locations in the United States to visit them. Due to health issues, Ruth came to Lawton in 2006 to live with her son and his family until her passing. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Andy and Jeanne Froude, Boston, Massachusetts, Jeff and Joan Froude of the home, and Patricia and Paul Snyder, Danville, California; ex-daughter in law Lillian Froude, Virginia Beach, Virginia; ten grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. The family will have a celebration of life and memorial for Ruth in California at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the USO, P.O.
