Age 95, San Antonio, TX - Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Friday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Cramer, Retired United Methodist Minister, Lawton officiating. Mrs. Hurst died Sunday, May 11, 2008 in San Antonio, TX. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Becker Funeral Home. *** The family will greet friends Thursday evening at the funeral home from 5pm until 7pm. *** She was born September 24, 1912 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Thomas and Hattie Knowles. Lawton was her home until she relocated to San Antonio 3 ½ years ago. She was educated in the public school system in Lawton and earned an Associate Degree from Cameron University. She retired from AT&T Telephone in 1975 after 28 years of service. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Lawton. Several years ago she received a 50 year service award from the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Pioneers of America (AT&T retiree organization). Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Harold E. Hurst, son Ronald E. Hurst and wife Elizabeth of San Antonio, TX, son Harold L. Hurst and wife Robyn and their two children Paige and Parker of Indianapolis, IN, and sister Elizabeth Johns of Apache, OK. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Joe, Lee, Earl and Alfred Knowles, and five sisters, Inez Farrar, Margarite Mahlstedt, Hattie Foster, Birdie Bowman and Blanche Crane. She was also preceded in death by a niece Mary Lea White.
