Funeral service for Ruby Iris Henson will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 22, 2016 in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home of Snyder Chapel with Chaplain (CPT) Chris McCarley, US Army and Emmett Hayslip, Mountain Park, OK officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mountain Park Cemetery, Mountain Park, OK.

*The family will greet friends Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6pm until 8pm.*

Ruby Iris Henson, 93, Mountain Park, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 17, 2016 at her home with family at her side.  She was born August 23, 1922 in Mountain Park, OK to Houston and Alberta (Peet) Bennight.  She married Richard Henson on June 28, 1940 in Mountain Park.  Together they had six children.  Richard passed away in 1974.  She worked alongside her husband with the farming chores.  She was city clerk for Mountain Park for many years.  Ruby had such beautiful handwriting that people always brought projects to her, such as quilt blocks, wedding cakes and graduating senior panels for Mountain Park Schools for many years.  She was instrumental in beginning the Mountain Park Alumni.  In her younger years she was active in the First Baptist Church, working with the Bible School and singing in the choir for church and funerals.  She was substitute rural mail carrier for her father, then became postal clerk and substitute postmaster in Mountain Park and worked in several other post offices before becoming Postmaster at the Headrick Post Office for many years before her retirement after 36 years.  Ruby cherished her friendship with her New York Pen Pal of 85 years.  They started writing in third grade and continued until present time.

She is survived by her four daughters; Ruby Loyce and husband Leon Combs, Glenda Louise Caldwell, Donna Gayle and husband Dwight Luttrell, Anita Janelle Jimison, grandchildren; Brad, Lori, Kari, Roger, Robin, Ty, Chad, Jace, Diana, Delana, Shane, Amy, Chyanne, Laramie, Kendra, Kent, Kaci and 43 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sons, Dickie Jack and Kenneth Albert, a brother Wesley and a grandson Chris Wade Henson.
