Age 87, Lawton - Services will be 2:00 PM Friday at Cameron Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Jones, pastor and Rev. Mike Teel, associate pastor officiating. Mr. Zimmerman died Monday in Lawton. Burial will be in Elgin Memorial Lawn under the direction of Becker Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. He was born August 24, 1922 to Jake and Mary (Miller) Zimmerman on a farm near Hulen, Oklahoma and lived there until moving to Lawton in 1952. He married Martha Lou Stevens on March 30, 1958 in Elgin. She died April 27, 2006. He attended Pleasant Valley School. Mr. Zimmerman worked at Lawton Co-Op Services for several years and retired from Lawton Public Schools in 1987. Roy was a member of the Oklahoma and Comanche County Retired Educators Association and Cameron Baptist Church where he was a deacon and worked many years with Preschool and Children's Church. Survivors include a daughter, Sarah Zimmerman, Lawrenceville, Georgia, son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Angela Zimmerman, Mebane, North Carolina, two granddaughters, Karen Zimmerman, Kathmandu, Nepal and Kimberly Zimmerman, Boone, North Carolina, brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Leota Zimmerman, Hemphill, Texas, sister-in-law, Joyce Stevens, Norman and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roy and Lois Stevens, Elgin and several nieces and nephews.
