Funeral service for Roy Morse, 76, Lawton, will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church, Sterling, with Mike Suiter and Sam L. Garner officiating. Mr. Morse died Tuesday, November 12 at his residence. Burial with Highway Patrol honors will be in the Sterling Cemetery under the direction of the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home, Lawton. Friends may view from 8 am - 9 pm Thursday and Friday at the funeral home and from 12:30-1:30 pm Saturday at the church. He was born January 9, 1937 in Sterling, Oklahoma to Vernon Everett and Winnie (Large) Morse. He grew up in Sterling and was a graduate of Sterling High School. He later attended Cameron College. He married Christa Krutz on August 17, 1999 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He began a career in law enforcement with the Lawton Police Department and joined the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in 1966. He retired from the Highway Patrol in 1992 and at the time of his retirement was the Zone 5 Commander which covered Troops F, G, H & M and held the rank of Captain. Following his retirement he was responsible for organizing the security for the Lawton Public Schools and worked for LPS until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of Denton Baptist Church, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Lawton Lodge #183. He is survived by his wife, of the home; a son and daughter in law, Jack and Carol Morse, Lawton; a daughter and son in law, Jana and David Lemley, Lawton; a step son, Patrick Minter and fianceé Garla Westbrook, Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Nicole Groves and husband Kacy, Jamie Morse, Dr. Krista Lemley and Michael Lemley; two step grandchildren, Molly and Melanie Minter; two great grandchildren, Clayton Hadley and Harper Groves; two sisters, Verna Seigler and husband Eddie, Aiken, South Carolina, and Helen Powell, Sterling; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents and a brother, Donald E. Morse, preceded him in death.
