Kiowa County lost one of its best cowboys and farmer on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at his home in Mountain Park, Oklahoma. Roger Wayne Roberts passed after a long battle with cancer at the age of 65. He was born September 15, 1955 in Snyder, Oklahoma. He was the first son born to Shirley and Leon Roberts, who later added two more sons and created Roberts Farms. He attended Snyder/Mountain Park Schools through 12 th grade where he participated in FFA and showing steers throughout high school. He attended one semester at Goodland College in Guymon, Oklahoma before returning home to farm and ranch with his father. On July 4, 1975 he was married to the girl next door, Jeanne Rene Davis at her parent's home in Snyder. They established a home in Mountain Park, Oklahoma where they were blessed with two children. Alongside his father and brothers they carved out a successful farming and ranching operation. Roger was dedicated to his family and all the creatures under his care. He spent many happy hours in the team roping pen practicing and competing with friends and family. Roger also loved to combine work and pleasure at the annual calve workings every spring. The entire family along with cherished neighbors and friends would gather for these events that involved a lot of hard work, good horses, laughter, good food and the occasional accidents usually involving ripped jeans, dunks in the creek and carnivorous cows. Later in life he became an avid camper and Dutch oven cook.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years Jeanne, a son Adam Wayne Roberts of El Reno, Oklahoma, daughter Caitlyn Dianna Hood and husband Justin of Byars, Oklahoma, his mother Shirley Dee Roberts of Snyder, Oklahoma, two brothers, Steve Roberts and wife Tammy and Mike Roberts and wife Alisha of Snyder, Oklahoma, as well as many beloved nephews, nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews, treasured family friends Olivia, Heath, and Dovie Hofferber.
