Rodney Allen Castello, 77, of Lawton, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in Lawton, Oklahoma.
No services are scheduled at this time.
Rodney Allen Castello, 77, was born on December 15, 1947, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Eulese Delony (who passed away on March 17, 1954) and Edna Ruth (Jacocks) Castello. He spent his early years in Baton Rouge before moving to Lawton, Oklahoma, where he continued his education in Lawton Public Schools. Following his mother's marriage to CW3 (Retired) A.L. Shelton on December 14, 1954, Rodney was lovingly raised by Mr. Shelton, who also mentored him in the craft of carpentry. Rodney worked for several businesses in Lawton before eventually becoming a self-employed carpenter, a trade he honed with great skill and pride.
Rodney also served his country in the United States Army and was a proud Vietnam Veteran.
He had a deep passion for collecting and restoring firearms, was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and restorer, and enjoyed metalworking and machining. A lifelong dog lover, Rodney was happiest when working with his hands, always tinkering, building, or fixing something.
He will be remembered for his craftsmanship, curiosity, and the quiet joy he found in the things he loved.
Rodney is survived by his sister, Glenda Faye (Castello) Baker of Kiefer, Oklahoma, brother, Arthur Leigh and wife Mary (Baker) Shelton of Van Buren, Arkansas, and other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents and stepfather.
