Robert T. "Bawb" Whitlock passed away at the age of 71 on the morning of June 10. Born in Ponca City, Oklahoma May 22, 1954 to Robert and Peggy (Yates) Whitlock, Bob seemed like the quiet type who just loved to read but still managed to get into plenty of trouble alongside his older sister, Janet. He grew into a successful member of the Wildcats Wrestling team at Ponca City High School and earned a scholarship for wrestling and another in academics to Northern Oklahoma Junior College. He graduated with a BS in Education in 1976 from the University of Central Oklahoma and entered the teaching profession at Lawton Public Schools teaching fifth grade at Geronimo Road Elementary School. His ingenuity and quirky sense of humor earned him recognition from observers and affection from students. A lifelong educator, Bob spent ten years of teaching and farming before attaining an MS from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and becoming a career counselor at Great Plains Area Vo-Tech in 1986. He remained there until 2004 and was a genuine help, good laugh, and dear friend to many who attended and worked at the school.

Bob married Marcia Countryman also of Ponca City in February of 1980, and together the couple raised two daughters, Anna Grace,1983 and Miriam Judith, 1986. The couple later divorced in 2001. Robert has been in a relationship with Sylvia Burgamy for the last 24 years and was residing in their home in Lawton at the time of his death.

Bob is survived by his two children and their spouses: Anna and Cody Sullivan, and their children, Cecilia Pearl and Jude Whitlock, Anna's oldest child, Asher Blair Kendall; Miriam and Michael Marlin and their children, Samuel Owen, William Daniel, and Lucy Jewel; his brother-in-law, Lee Valentine; and a niece, Courtney Hays and her children Jackson, Avery, and Gracie. Bob was a grandparent to Sylvia's grandchild Eli Burgamy and his son, Judah Raine Burgamy, and friend and mentor to her son, Chris Burgamy. He will be dearly missed by his friends and all those who loved him best.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Peggy and Robert Whitlock and his sister, Janet Valentine.
