Graveside service for Robert L. Montoya, 69, formerly of Albuquerque will be 10:30 am Tuesday at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe. Mr. Montoya died Monday, August 20 in Lawton, Oklahoma. Robert was born August 1, 1943 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Louis Moses and Margaret (Casados) Montoya. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was a patriot and a human rights activist. Robert enjoyed photography, golf, traveling and philosophy. He had been employed as a professional engineer. He was a devout family man. Survivors include two sons, Matthew Montoya and his wife Cindy, Lawton, Oklahoma and Carlos Montoya, Albuquerque; two granddaughters, Sarah and Isabella Montoya; his mother, Margaret Montoya, Albuquerque; four siblings, Esther Melagrano and her husband Richard, Miami, Florida, Margaret Montoya, Michael Montoya and Elizabeth Montoya all of Albuquerque; two nephews, Jayson Allen and Brett Melagrano; a niece Jessica Tafoya; and a large loving family. His father preceded him in death.
