Graveside service for Robert F. Braly, 75, of Edmond, Oklahoma will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2024, at Highland Cemetery in Lawton, Oklahoma with Chaplain Stephen Rose, Mustang Police Department, Mustang, Oklahoma officiating.

Robert was born November 22, 1948, to M.B. and Irene Braly in Lawton, Oklahoma.  He was raised in Lawton and graduated from Lawton High School in 1968.  Robert passed from this world into eternal life on May 4, 2024, surrounded by his family in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Robert joined the National Guard while he was still attending High School.  In 1970 he joined the Lawton Police Department as a patrol officer mainly focused on traffic duties yet responded to all crimes of urgency.  In 1976 he transferred into the criminal intelligence division of the Department. In 1980, Robert was promoted to the detective division and retired as the case management officer in 1990 after 20 years of service to his community. Two weeks later in 1990, he joined the United States Marshals Service in Air Operations in Oklahoma City as an Aviation Security Officer.  By 2001, he was promoted to supervisor of flight operations and held that position until retiring in June of 2015 with an additional 15 years of service to his community.

Robert married Twyla Jean Hinze on July 24, 1981, in Wichita Falls, Texas.  Their marriage endured until his death just shy of 43 years.

He is survived by his wife, Twyla, of Edmond, Oklahoma and sister-in-law, Beverly Calvert; a daughter, Kathy Braly McGee and husband Derek Smith of Edmond, Oklahoma; a son, Brian Braly and wife Erin Braly of Double Oak, Texas; and daughter, Jennifer Braly of Cyril, Oklahoma.  He is also survived by grandchildren, Victoria and husband Cole, Kendrick, Kersten, Casen, Paige and great grandson, Maverick, and two nephews, Ryan and Matthew and wife Megan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law.

Above all else, Robert was devoted to his family.  He enjoyed cooking for them and any friend who walked in the door of their home, but his favorite pastime was watching movies with his beloved dog, Kenny.  Robert also enjoyed dancing, particularly two-stepping, boating and feeding the birds. Robert was a man constantly in motion, who always had a project going on while enjoying life.  He will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers the family request that a donation be made to the American Kidney Fund www.kidneyfund.org.
