Richard I. Startz, age 71, of Lawton, passed away Friday, November 30, 2018 in Lawton.
His urn has been placed at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin.
Arrangements are under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
He was born in Tewksbury, Massachusetts on May 22, 1947 to August and Iris Startz. He joined the U.S. Army after graduating from high school. He served several tours in Vietnam and after many duty stations, he ended up at Fort Sill.
Being an avid reader, even in his youth, influenced him to become the world traveler and adventurer that he was. He traveled throughout Europe where his fondest memories were of the Azores and the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain.
Always presenting a gruff exterior, his actions and deeds proved differently. His compassion, genuine love and concern for friends and family was boundless. He had an impact on many and touched more lives than can be counted. To say he was a good man, leaves so much unsaid, but he was a good man and he will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife Kiyoe, two sons, Randolph Reiter and his wife Jillian and two granddaughters, Liberty Marie Lillian Reiter and London Paisleigh Kiyoe Reiter.
