Randy M. "Bear" Britton, 75, of Lawton, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 8, 2025. He was born on September 1, 1949, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Randy grew up in Cyril.  He attended Eisenhower High School before briefly attending college, ultimately choosing to dedicate his life to firefighting—a career that became his true calling.

Randy began his lifelong career with the Lawton Fire Department in 1972, proudly serving his community for 35 years before retiring in 2007 as a Lieutenant. Throughout his career, he responded to countless emergencies. He was especially honored to assist with the rescue and recovery efforts following the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building bombing. Beyond the fire department, Randy also worked for Kirk's Ambulance and was a member of the Lawton Dive Team.

Randy's passions in life could be summed up in three words: firefighting, hunting, and fishing. Fishing held a special place in his heart. In addition to countless local trips, he embarked on over 60 sportfishing adventures with Independence Sportfishing.

He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Gary Graham, Duncan, Oklahoma; two nephews, Keenan Graham and wife Lacey, and Kris Graham and his life partner, Dustin; a great niece, Emersyn, and great nephew, Kinsler; his extended family, Scott and Monique Preston; and special friend, Jan Dollins.

Additionally, special recognition for their outstanding care is given to the staff of Complete Hospice and Randy's caregivers, Margaret, April, Kevin, Gina and Susan.

His father, Charles Dale Britton, as well as his mother and his stepfather, Mary Virginia and Jess Wilson, preceded him in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to Randy Britton Scholarship Fund through Independence Sportsfishing, Attn: Paulina, 1403 Scott Street, Unit 208, San Diego, California 92106 or to Lawton First Assembly, P.O. Box 6485, Lawton, Oklahoma 73506.
