Randi Dawn Buzbee Mavity, 51, of Lawton, Oklahoma, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 12, 2026, just one week shy of her 52nd birthday.
Randi was born on October 19, 1974, to Randall and Vicki Buzbee. She grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma, and graduated from Lawton High School in 1993.
Growing up, Randi and her sister, Misti, were more than just sisters; they were the very best of friends and practically each other's shadows. If you saw one, you could almost always count on the other being right there beside her. From childhood through adulthood, they shared a special bond and a lifetime of memories.
Dirt track racing was part of Randi's life from the very beginning. Growing up in a racing family, she spent countless nights at Lawton Speedway watching her dad race. Those evenings at the track became some of the special memories of her childhood.
As a teenager, Randi could usually be found cruising around in her loud Chevy truck or at Wayne's Drive-Inn with her very best friends, Lorie McGavic Canada, Missy Munson Rainey, and Misti Drake Hively. Those years were filled with friendship, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Anyone who knew Randi growing up will surely remember those days, her Chevy truck, and the friendships that meant so much to her.
Following high school, Randi attended Cameron University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in mathematics in 1998. Her dedication to education and lifelong learning later led her to East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, where she earned her master's degree in 2011.
Randi dedicated much of her life to education, beginning her teaching career at Tomlinson Middle School, where she taught seventh- and eighth-grade mathematics from 1999 to 2010. She later taught mathematics at Lawton High School from 2011 until her retirement in 2013. Throughout her years as an educator, she shared her knowledge with generations of students and left a lasting impression on the many young lives she helped shape.
On April 5, 2021, Randi married Justin Mavity.
Above all else, Randi cherished her family and the time they spent together. Her daughters, Teagan and Sidney, and her grandsons, Ridge and Stetson, were her entire world. Whether celebrating life's special occasions or simply enjoying time together, Randi treasured the moments she shared with those she loved. She had the biggest smile and an infectious laugh that could brighten any room. Her laughter, warmth, and the love she so freely gave will be among the many things her family and friends will miss most. Being a mother and grandmother brought her immeasurable joy, and the memories she created with her family will be cherished for generations to come.
Randi was also a beloved daughter, sister, wife, aunt, and friend. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will forever be treasured by those who knew and loved her.
Randi was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Helen L. Buzbee Barger, and her aunt, Janette Moore.
Randi is survived by her husband, Justin Mavity; her daughters and sons-in-law, Teagan Newton and husband Hunter, and Sidney Larimore and husband B.J.; her beloved grandsons, Ridge and Stetson; her parents, Randall and Vicki Buzbee; her sister and brother-in-law, Misti Collins and husband Brian; her nieces, Danci Davies and husband Dakota, Delani Lytle, and Kendall Doan VanArsdale; her great-nieces, Braylee and Baylynn; her great-nephew, Breyton; her aunt and uncle, Harold and Theresa Buzbee; her cousins, Steve Doan, Tiffany Buzbee, Melissa Sherrill, and Travis Sherrill, along with many other cousins; and her stepchildren, Justin Bailey-Mavity and his son, Sawyer Bailey, and Austin Mavity. She is also survived by many other loving relatives and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Although her time here was far too short, Randi leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and treasured memories. Her beautiful smile, unforgettable laugh, and the love she had for her family will never be forgotten. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, the students whose lives she touched, and all those fortunate enough to have known and loved her.
