Ramiro Z. Hernandez, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, left this world surrounded by loved ones on December 2, 2023, at age 91. He is reunited with his wife, Anita Navarrette Hernandez, whose passing preceded his on October 16, 2016.

Born to Sotero M. Hernandez and Manuela Zamora Hernandez on October 3, 1932, in Kerrville, TX, Ramiro was the youngest son in his family with 5 older sisters.  He became the first  member of his family to obtain a diploma, graduating from Midwestern University in 1960 with a Major in history and minor in education. He instilled a passion for education in his three children, who all went on to obtain college degrees, following his example. Prior to this, he served in the U.S. Army Field Artillery Division at the rank of Sergeant from 1955-1957, stationed in Germany.

Ramiro charmed everyone he met, and he was known for his stories about growing up in Texas and about his time in the military. A gifted educator, he dedicated his efforts to the advancement of young people who came from underprivileged backgrounds like his own, becoming a vocational counselor for Treasure Lake Job Corp in Comanche County, Oklahoma, where he shaped many lives.

His patience, love for his family, and commitment to the power of knowledge greatly benefited his children and their families, John Ray Hernandez and wife Patricia, Sandra Kay Brammer and husband Stephen, and Annette Marie Munson and husband Kenneth, as well as his grandchildren, Kennedy Munson, Madison Munson, Alexandra Brammer, and John Paul Brammer, all of whom survive him and carry his memory forward.

Ramiro is predeceased by his parents and sisters, Agroa, Eloisa, Enedina, Estela, and Evangelina.

A private graveside service is scheduled for the immediate family.
