Phillip Paul Aguilar, Sr., 79, of Cache, Oklahoma passed away peacefully Monday, March 18, 2024 at his daughter's residence in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma surrounded by his family. Phillip was born in Binger, Oklahoma on May 30, 1944 to Vidal H. and Felipa (neé Cantu) Aguilar. He grew up in the Binger area and attended school at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anadarko with his brothers and sisters. When Phillip was in 4th grade, his parents transferred him to Gracemont Public Schools, where he met his future wife, Betsy. Phillip and Betsy graduated high school together in 1963. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve prior to enlisting active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps from February 1964 to February 1967, attaining the rank of Corporal. While in the Marines, he spent over one year in Vietnam. After he returned home, Phillip had his first son, Phillip Aguilar, Jr., and moved to Lawton.

In 1975, he reunited with Betsy Ross, his childhood classmate from Gracemont. They fell in love and married on April 10, 1976. Together, they had two children, Kinde and Jacob. Phillip was a devoted husband and father, always by his wife's side. He loved Betsy with all his heart.

In the early 1970s, Phillip began his career as an accomplished electrician. He was a lifelong member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, where he built friendships across the community while providing for his family. He excelled as an electrician and eventually became an electrical contractor. In 1986 he started his own electrical contracting business, Cactus Electric. Phillip had residential and commercial clients in Lawton and the surrounding areas, while also teaching the trade to many apprentices.

Phillip enjoyed spending time watching Western movies and television shows. He was a listener of George Jones, Hank Williams, and Johnny Cash. Spending time with his family always gave him a smile, and he was well-known for how welcomed he made them feel.

Phillip is survived by his son, Phillip Aguilar, Jr.; daughter, Dr. Kinde Aguilar, and spouse Lindsay Aguilar, of Oklahoma City; son, Jacob Aguilar of Vancouver, Washington; grandsons, Dillon Williams of Miami, Oklahoma, and Milo Aguilar of Oklahoma City; and many special nephews, nieces, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betsy Aguilar; parents, Vidal and Felipa Aguilar; brothers, Jesse Aguilar, John Aguilar, Joe Aguilar, Lupe Aguilar; and his sisters, Linda Lowhorn and Mary Howard.

Phillip, his kindness, and generosity to all those he loved will be greatly missed.
