Obituary

Peggy Marleen Jackson was born on May 9, 1943, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Maudie Emaleen and Marvin Baughman. A proud Geronimo Bluejay, Peggy loved her hometown of Geronimo, where she enjoyed playing basketball and fondly recalled dancing and sharing snacks with friends in the Mallow Grocery after closing time on weekend evenings.

It was in Lawton that Peggy met her high school sweetheart and loving husband of 62 years, Jerry. They married and moved to Norman, where Jerry completed the Army ROTC program at the University of Oklahoma. Peggy worked at the armory until they welcomed their first son, Chuck. Their second son, Robert, was born while the family was stationed at Fort Rucker.

Though she grew up in a small Oklahoma town, Peggy and Jerry treasured the opportunities Army life provided to their family. Peggy proudly embraced the adventures, friendships, and experiences that came with nearly three decades as an Army spouse. During those years, she also earned her bachelor's degree and began a career in teaching, fulfilling a promise she had made to her father years before.

Peggy and Jerry enjoyed retirement with the same spirit of adventure that defined their years together. They traveled in their RV, volunteered on the PGA Tour, and spent several seasons at Yellowstone National Park. They loved sharing these experiences with family, especially their grandchildren, who fondly remember home Sooner football weekends tailgating with their grandparents at the Lloyd Noble Center RV Tailgating Village. Their home overlooking the 17th hole in Nocona, Texas, held countless family memories, from holiday gatherings and meals around Peggy's table to golf cart rides around the course with their grandchildren.

Peggy leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and treasured memories that will continue to be cherished by all who knew her.

Peggy Marleen Jackson passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She is survived by her son, Chuck Jackson, his wife Suzanne, and their children Chloe (Andrew) and Charlie; her son Robert, his wife Shelli, and their children, Cole and Cooper; her sister-in-law, Donna Kay Jackson; and her great-granddaughter, Ruthie.
