Pamela "Pam" Ammons, 69, passed away October 16, 2026, surrounded by her family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, educator, coach and friend, Pam spent her life caring for those she loved. Whether through a home-cooked meal, a helping hand, a good story or simply being there when needed, she had a special way of making others feel loved.

Born July 1, 1957, to Bob and Shirley Christensen, Pam graduated from McPherson High School, where she formed friendships and memories she cherished throughout her life. Her parents owned a greenhouse and flower shop, and Pam spent many holidays helping with the family business, often delivering flowers. Years later, when her daughter Jessica owned two flower shops, Pam returned to those familiar roots, showing up daily to help in any way she could.

Pam and her husband, Cal, lived in Wichita, Kansas, from 1980 to 1990. In 1991, they built a home on a Butler County farm, where they raised their children, Jessica and Lucas. Pam dedicated much of her life to teaching and coaching before retiring in 2011. Her care for others extended beyond the classroom, and she maintained meaningful connections with many students, athletes and families over the years.

Following retirement, Pam and Cal relocated to Comanche County, Oklahoma, to be closer to family and enjoy her favorite role - being a short-range grandma, affectionately known as "Pammy."

Nothing brought Pam greater joy than her grandchildren, Caroline and Ames. It has been said that you can tell what someone loves by looking at what they photograph. With more than 20,000 pictures and videos of her grandchildren and beloved dogs on her phone, there was never any doubt where Pam's heart belonged.

Pam loved cooking and feeding her family. It was her love language, whether comforting someone through illness, celebrating a special occasion or gathering everyone around the table for an ordinary family dinner. Her treasured recipes and the memories made around her table will live on for generations.

Those who knew Pam best knew her wonderful sense of humor. She loved reminiscing, sharing great stories and laughing with family and friends. Her unmistakable laugh will remain a cherished memory for all who loved her.

A lifelong dog lover, Pam considered her animals an important part of the family. The lifetime of a dog person includes many generations and changing combinations of both two-legged and four-legged loved ones on life's carousel. Through every turn, Pam loved and cared for them all, each one a treasured member of her "pack."

Pam shared a special bond with her beloved Ruby, who preceded her in death. She also found great joy in working with the Paws with Love therapy dog group, sharing the comfort and companionship of dogs with others. Her surviving four-legged family includes her therapy dog Hope, her guardian Johnny, and her rescued companions Socks and Rally.

Pam faced a long battle with cancer with remarkable strength and determination, but her illness never defined her. In the end, cancer did not defeat her - she conquered it. She will be remembered for her generous heart, her humor, her devotion to family and the countless lives she touched.

Pam is survived by her husband, Cal Ammons; brother, Steve Christensen; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Clancy Crow; son, Lucas J. Ammons; and grandchildren, Caroline and Ames Crow. She also leaves behind her dear friend April Rogers, along with many nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends, colleagues and former students.

Above all, Pam's life centered on family - caring for them, worrying about them, feeding them, laughing with them and supporting them through whatever life brought. She spent a lifetime taking care of others, and in her final days, it was her family's greatest honor to return that love and care to her.

Pam loved flowers, and the family welcomes those wishing to honor her memory to celebrate her life in whatever way feels most meaningful to them. Memorial donations may also be made in her honor to Paws with Love or the Comanche County Pet Resource Foundation, two organizations that reflect her lifelong love of animals. #c4c

Her love, her laughter and the many lives she touched will remain her lasting legacy.
