Oscar "Andy" Lee Anderson, 93 entered the presence of God on December 9, 2017 in Edmond, OK. He was born July 10, 1924 to G. Edward and Hattie F. (Rogers) Anderson in Erick, OK. Andy joined the Army in 1943 and was assigned to Company 121 st Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron as a tank driver. He served overseas in the European Theater of operations and received two bronze stars, the World War II Victory Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Ribbon and was later honorably discharged in 1946. After the war he worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for nearly 40 years as a lineman and later as a repeater man. His first work assignment was in Woodward, OK and later to Lawton, OK. During a tornado Andy was literally blown threw the doors of the Woodward, OK hospital where he met his future wife, Darlene McCracken, who worked as a registered nurse.

Andy was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and his faith was paramount in his life. He was a true "fisherman of men", sharing his faith in God with others. He served his church in many capacities. In retirement, he loved to make "saw dust" using his scroll saw and making Christian symbols, especially crosses. It brought him great joy in giving his crosses away. Andy loved to fish, play pool and dominoes. While at Bradford Village he touched the life of Dale King and formed a lasting friendship. They were both avid domino players.

Andy is survived by four children, Kaye (Anderson) Gleason of Visalia, CA, Kent Anderson of Lawton, Jon Anderson of Rio Rancho, NM, and Jane (Anderson) Niskern of Edmond, OK, eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

His parents, his wife Darlene of 69 years, a sister, and a son Kent Lee Anderson preceded Andy in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church at 102 SW 7 th Street, Lawton, OK 73501.
