Funeral service for Nelda R. McBride will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 18, 2017 in Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in the Alfalfa Cemetery, Alfalfa, Oklahoma.

Nelda R. McBride, age 88, Lawton, died Thursday, September 14, 2017 in Lawton.  She was born October 1, 1928 in Carnegie, Oklahoma to O.B. and Lola M. Whitley.  She grew up in Alfalfa and Carnegie and was a graduate of Carnegie High School.  She married Curtis D. "Bo" McBride on September 28, 1947 in Bethany.  He preceded her in death on April 22, 2016.

Nelda earned her bachelor's degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford and her master's degree from the University of Oklahoma.  She taught school in Apache for a couple of years and retired after more than 40 years from the Lawton Public Schools where she was a business teacher and guidance counselor.

She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.  She had served as a Pink Lady volunteer with Comanche County Memorial Hospital and enjoyed china painting and landscaping.

She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Ann McBride, Oklahoma City, and Shon and Becky McBride, Tulsa; grandchildren, Matthew McBride and wife Christina, Sean McBride, Cole McBride and wife Kristen, Chace McBride and Kelsey McBride and her fiancé Casey Lopez; two step grandchildren and their spouses, Cullen and Colleen Greer and Courtney and Andrew Green; her brother, Gary Whitley, Oklahoma City; and her sister, Gweneth Coe, Hydro, Oklahoma.

Her parents, a brother, Bill Whitley, and a great grandson, Nathan, preceded her in death.
